Cleanup & usability

This article should likely serve as an index of each of the attacks, organized by type. We could redo the template so that it formats the entire page as one big table, with wikilinks to individual pages about each power, as well as definitions of the different terms used within (like Melee, Utility, Orison, and the progression terms. Thoughts? —Paizo Publishing, LLC.png Yoda8myhead (talk) 22:42, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

I've set this up using tables with each row entry as it's own template. I'm not sure if that's the best way to do it in the long run, but it seems like an easy enough way to start.
To Do
  • Add spaces between keywords and slashes to make columns narrower.
  • Add wikilinks to elements that seem logical. Current considerations are:
  • Range entries all linking to a single article on Attack ranges, possibly to subsections if we have enough information on the different ranges that they are needed.
  • Keywords
  • Determine if the feat names themselves should be linked to individual articles. Currently thinking no, at least until we have more information.
Other possibilities include breaking the tables into more versions based on one specific column, to decrease the width and leave room for an image for the attack to be added in later. Any thoughts?—Paizo Publishing, LLC.png Yoda8myhead (talk) 18:28, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
After talking with Stephen, I think we should basically wikilink everything. He said that eventually folks are going to want a full article on most keywords. I'll see if I can get a bot to do this automatically.—Paizo Publishing, LLC.png Yoda8myhead (talk) 21:27, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

Better organization

I recommend we eliminate the first column, which is redundant if we set up multiple tables, each under a sub header of the attack type. It makes it far easier for someone to jump straight to cantrips, for example (and for us to link from elsewhere in the wiki to a specific attack type) and makes the overall table narrower, which is more user-friendly for folks on mobile devices.—Paizo Publishing, LLC.png Yoda8myhead (talk) 21:26, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and done this, and will eliminate the first column of each table this weekend. I'm also likely to move each table to it's own page, so that we can have a page called Cantrip that will describe what a cantrip is, and include the table. We can use <noinclude> and <includeonly> to make it easy to simply transclude the table portion of Cantrip into the overall Attacks article, that way we don't need to update each table individually. Let's focus, for the moment, on getting Attacks up and running as a template, and then we can make other pages that will have the same format.—Paizo Publishing, LLC.png Yoda8myhead (talk) 21:35, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
